KAILUA – With two current locations on Oahu, Peet’s Coffee & Tea is planning a “three-Peet” in Kailua Town. It will open in early 2014 at 143 Hekili Street in Suite 120. Kaneohe Ranch will turn over the 648-square-foot store to Peet’s in November for the California-based company to build out its interior.
Peet’s Coffee has two existing locations on Oahu, both at the Sheraton Waikiki – by the pool and valet. But Peet’s Coffee & Tea Hawaii licensed partner Chipper Pastron said he and his partners Sal Sr. and Sal Jr. Casola are excited about opening a store in Kailua. “Kailua is the No. 1 area we’ve wanted to get into for years,” he said “this will be the first store in Hawaii where we are really part of a community. We also believe that the Kailua customers will appreciate the high level of artisan products we have to offer.”
Peet’s Coffee & Tea, the premier specialty coffee and tea company in the United States, is dedicated to crafting the highest quality coffee, as set forth by founder, Alfred Peet, since he opened the first store in Berkeley, Calif., in 1966. Each batch of coffee is personally hand roasted, and roast masters select the world’s best coffee beans. Every process in place is set to maintain a strict standard of freshness. Peet’s drinkers in Hawaii will get coffee made from the same consistently fresh and flavorful beans available at Peet’s stores and online. For tea enthusiasts, Peet’s offers an equally thoughtful selection of high-quality herbal, certified organic and rare teas.
“Kailua shoppers value quality, and this charming caffeine oasis will offer the service and high-quality products local residents appreciate – making Peet’s Coffee & Tea another great hangout for Kailua residents,” said Kimo Steinwascher, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Kaneohe Ranch.
Janeen Lee-Abelaye, general manager of the Peet’s Coffee at the Waikiki locations, says the top seller is the simple freshly-brewedcoffee. “Peet’s Coffee is known for its quality roasting,” she said. “While we do sell a lot of blended drinks, lattes and different types of espresso, the freshly brewed coffee is what our customers love.”
The Kailua location will also sell breakfast sandwiches, and fresh-baked artisan pastries – all created exclusively for Peet’s Coffee & Tea Hawaii.
Peet’s Coffee neighboring tenants in the renovated 143 Hekili Street property will include Crepes No Ka ‘Oi and swimwear boutique Splash! Hawaii.
Pastron is planning a blessing and other grand-opening festivities when the store opens early next year. More information on Peet’s Coffee & Tea Hawaii can be found at www.peetshawaii.com or www.peets.com.
Kaneohe Ranch manages the real estate owned by the family business entities of Harold K.L. Castle and Alice H. Castle and their nonprofit charitable foundation, the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation. The portfolio consists of major landholdings in Kailua as well as other properties on Oahu and the U.S. mainland. The Kailua properties include commercial, retail, office, industrial and residential leasehold parcels.
